How to convert PDF to Word

  1. Click “Choose file” or drag your PDF into the box above.
  2. Press “Convert to Word”. Your PDF is processed on our own server.
  3. Download the .docx file and open it in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs.

Features

  • Real, editable text. Text becomes normal Word paragraphs and headings – not floating text boxes – so you can edit, restyle and reflow it.
  • Tables stay tables. Tables drawn with lines in the PDF become proper Word tables, including merged cells.
  • Images and lists. Pictures are placed in the document and bullet points become Word bullet lists.
  • Private by design. Conversion runs on our own servers, not a third-party service, and files are deleted automatically.

How our PDF to Word conversion works

A PDF stores the exact position of every letter on the page, but it does not record where a paragraph starts or ends. Our converter reads the text, fonts and positions in your PDF and rebuilds the document structure: lines are joined into paragraphs, larger or bold lines become headings, bullet points become lists, ruled tables become Word tables and images are inserted where they appear.

The result is a document you can actually edit. Many free converters place every line in a separate text box, which looks right but is almost impossible to change. We deliberately produce normal Word paragraphs instead.

What kind of PDFs convert best?

PDFs created from Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice or other text editors give the best results – reports, letters, CVs, essays, articles and contracts. Simple two-column layouts such as newsletters are read in the correct order (left column first, then right column).

Designed brochures, magazines with overlapping elements, forms and documents with unusual fonts can be converted, but the layout will need more manual tidying afterwards.

Good to know

  • Scanned PDFs (photos or scans of paper) contain no selectable text and cannot be converted to editable Word text. Use PDF to JPG to get images instead.
  • Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
  • The layout is rebuilt, not copied: complex designs, text boxes, columns and fonts may differ from the original.
  • Charts drawn as vector graphics may not be transferred; images are inserted as pictures.

Frequently asked questions

Is this PDF to Word converter free?

Yes. You can convert PDF files to Word for free, one file at a time, without creating an account.

Will my Word document look exactly like the PDF?

Simple documents usually look very close to the original. Because a PDF has no real paragraph structure, the converter rebuilds it, so complex layouts, special fonts and decorative elements may look different and need some tidying.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?

No. Scanned PDFs are pictures of text and need OCR (optical character recognition), which this tool does not provide. The converter will tell you if your PDF looks scanned.

Is the text editable or in text boxes?

The text is placed in normal, editable Word paragraphs and tables – not in floating text boxes.

What is the maximum file size?

You can upload PDFs up to the size and page limits shown above the upload button.

What happens to my file?

Your PDF is processed on our own server. The uploaded file is deleted as soon as the conversion finishes, and the converted file is deleted automatically shortly afterwards. See our Privacy Policy.
