How to convert Word to PDF
- Choose your Word document or drag it into the box above.
- Click “Convert to PDF”.
- Download your PDF – ready to share, print or upload.
Features
- Accurate layout. Uses the LibreOffice document engine, which renders headings, tables, images, headers, footers and page breaks.
- Several formats. Accepts DOCX, DOC (Word 97–2003), ODT and RTF.
- Searchable PDF. The text in the PDF stays selectable and searchable.
- Safe processing. Macros are never run, and documents containing macros are rejected.
Why convert Word to PDF?
A PDF looks the same on every phone, tablet and computer, whether or not the reader has Microsoft Word. That makes PDF the best format for CVs, assignments, invoices, contracts and anything you want to print or submit online.
Converting also protects your layout: line breaks, page breaks and images stay where you placed them, and the reader cannot accidentally edit the content.
About fonts
Our server includes widely used free fonts, including metric-compatible replacements for Calibri, Cambria, Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New, so text keeps the same line and page breaks. If your document uses a rare or commercial font that is not installed on the server, a similar font is used instead.
Good to know
- Fonts that are not installed on the server are replaced with similar fonts.
- Password-protected and macro-enabled documents (.docm) are not accepted.
- Very complex elements (some SmartArt, embedded objects, tracked-change balloons) may render differently from Microsoft Word.
Frequently asked questions
Which Word formats can I convert?
DOCX, DOC (Word 97–2003), ODT (OpenDocument Text) and RTF files.
Will my formatting be kept?
Yes, headings, fonts, tables, images, headers, footers and page breaks are kept. If a font is not available on the server, a visually similar font is used.
Can I convert a password-protected Word file?
No. Please remove the password in Word first (File › Info › Protect Document) and try again.
Is there a page limit?
There is a file size limit shown above the upload button and a time limit for each conversion. Normal documents of a few hundred pages convert well within the limits.
Is it safe?
Files are converted on our own server with macros disabled, and are deleted automatically. See our Privacy Policy.
